Pamela Heard started working at the Roberts Academy SBHC in January of 2016 and was the first medical assistant (MA) to join the school health program. When other SBHCs saw how well the model worked, they started to follow and now there are MAs in most of the Cincinnati Health Department’s SBHCs. Pam is a model MA and has brought a world of expertise to our team. She has become our clinic “go-to” person. With a full understanding of the clinic flow, Pam steps in to help all team members with tasks as needed. Having worked in various medical settings, she regularly asks the nurse practitioner things like, “What can I do to make your job easier?” and “What can I take off your plate?” As she was born and raised in the Price Hill neighborhood, she also brings to the table a unique understanding of many of our underserved families’ situations. Finally, over the last two and a half years, she has taken it upon herself to learn basic Spanish and is now able to perform most tasks of her job in Spanish, setting our large Spanish-speaking population of patients at ease. Her positive attitude and eagerness to both learn and to serve should not go unrecognized.
