A twelve year old female student visited the SBHC for pain and decreased hearing in her left ear. She was referred to an ENT. They were unable to reach mom. The Nurse Practitioner saw mom at the Parent Resource Center and discussed scheduling a visit with the ENT for an initial consultation and to get permission for the Pre-Op physical. The surgery was performed and the student returned to school the next day. The proximity of the SBHC to the Parent Resource Center and the frequent visits by the patient prevented this case from falling through the cracks and potentially permanent hearing loss.
